Reason 6, an amazing step forward…
ByI have been a Propellerheads Reason user for almost a decade now. Although I’m still not anywhere near where I want to be when it comes to writing music I haven’t given up, if anything I’m more focused now than ever (why I waited till I was this age to get focused is beyond me).
I’m not going to give you a detailed review, there are many other there that are probably written much better than I can, but just wanted to tell you that this little box of awesome is amazing. Reason now (finally) has an amazing SSL mixer, simpler routing/bus options, fantastic effects plugins; and most importantly, AUDIO (not just MIDI like it always was version 1-5). Yep, record audio right into the sequencer from any drum machine, synth, guitar, or whatever. Vocals even. It sounds great too.

P.S. There is NO SUCH THING as a “Reason sound”. Reason doesn’t sound like anything, but it can sound like anything. People that think Reason has some sort of “sound” are simply amateurs that have only spent a few minutes messing with couple of the basic synths set on a couple of basic presets. There are plenty of fantastic dance music producers that write great dancefloor tunes in Reason. Claude VonStroke, Kill The Noise, Liam Howlett (of The Prodigy), A Guy Called Gerald, Aux88, Tom Middleton, Dave Spoon, & Printz Board (the music guy from the Black Eyed Peas) to name a few…
